Terminator 2 - Judgment Day has stood the test of time as one of the most fun science fiction/action movies to come out. The movie takes a premise that is so simple, yet so complex, and blends it with some amazing cinematography. The acting is a little campy at some points, but it only serves to add to the charm of the movie.

This movie pits a ragtag group, Sarah Conner, John Conner, and the original Terminator against a much more sophisticated robot from the future, the T-1000. The T-1000 is a nearly indestructible robot that has a liquid metal that allows it to mimic almost anything it wants to.

The heroes are trying to save the world from a global take over from the soon to be sentient machines. Sarah decides that it is possible to change the future, and goes on a quest to destroy the person that originally designed the terminators. They think that they have won by the end of the movie, but it turns out that they only delayed the, apparently, inevitable.

A large part of this movie deals with aspects of fate and destiny. People can change the future, things don't have to be the way they were going to be. It can be changed. This is a message that could be applied to some things that people are talking about in our current political climate. Environmentalists could take that message and say "we don't have to destroy the planet. We can still save it. We can make a difference."

There is also the issue of the status of the mental health system in America. Even though the audience knows that she is not crazy, and that the future really is going to be dominated by robots in the future, the people in the present are all too quick to throw Sarah into a mental health lock-up because of her wild claims.

Yet everyone treats her like she is a completely insane woman. Are the filmmakers trying to say that, at the time this movie came out, mental health providers aren't much more than professional guessers when it comes to mental illness? That if they don't believe something than it must be a problem with the other person? They don't go into this too much, so much of this has to be inferred, but there might be something there.

John Conner is supposed to be the great savior of mankind when he grows up. Yet at the time of this movie he is just a kid who has had a bizarre upbringing and is starting to get into a life of crime (stealing from ATM machines). John doesn't actually know that what his mom has told him is true anymore than the mental health professionals think its true.

The strange thing about Terminator 2 - Judgment Day is that if we take the time-traveling robots out of the equation, then we see a completely different story. Without them showing up, John is being raised by a series of foster parents and a crazy woman. He is being told crazy things that really don't make a lot of sense. And it's all coming from the mind of a very seriously mentally ill woman. Fortunately, the robots do so up, so instead of a story about a horribly dysfunctional family, we are instead treated to a story with some of the most amazing action sequences ever put on film.

A Powerful Synopsis Of The Movie The Last Dragon

The Last Dragon was a film produced by Motown Records in the mid-eighties, and while it was sort of created as a way to market a few singles, notably Oh Sheila, the film still stands as a pretty good Kung Fu movie, a good comedy, and one of the all time must download movies of the eighties. It's fun, funny, sort of corny and very eighties.

The film follows Bruce Leroy, or so is his nickname. He's a young martial artist from Harlem who works for his father's pizza parlor while teaching Kung Fu to the local neighborhood kids. Throughout his adventures, he also has to keep his cool and composure while dealing with his rival, Sho'Nuff, who's always trying to get a rise out of him. Sho'Nuff, you see, is the Shogun of Harlem... Yep, the Shogun of Harlem. That's what he likes to call himself.

Sho'Nuff, the Shogun of Harlem, is really a cinematic treasure as far as great film characters go. He tries to egg Bruce Leroy into a fight so that he can prove, once and for all, who the strongest fighter in the city is. Every time he steps on scene, it's with a short speech, aided by his lackeys. "Am I the prettiest?!" "SHO NUFF!" "Am I the baddest?!" "SHO NUFF!" "Am I the meanest, leanest mofo around dis town?!" "SHO NUFF!" "SHO'NUFF! Da Shogun of Harlem!" He wears visor sunglasses, a samurai's hakama (those baggy pants that disguise foot movement), and shoulder pads, as well as a top knot... He looks ridiculous and he's just a joy to behold.

The only downside to the movie is the comparatively less interesting subplot revolving around a really, really awful Cyndi Lauper style singer and her manager/boyfriend who's trying to get her some airtime on a local music show, produced and hosted by Bruce Leroy's would-be-lover. This subplot isn't the most interesting part of the film, but fortunately it's not a main focus.

And of course, it does pay off in the end when the manager hires all the baddest dudes in the city to have it out with Bruce Leroy and his students. These "bad dudes" include a big fat old white guy with a Mister T Mohawk and an all gold one piece suit... Yep, real bad dudes, these guys.

Besides the action and jokes, there are also some classic eighties scenes that you couldn't see in any other era, such as Leroy trying to find the man who writes the wise sayings on fortune cookies, only to find that the whole process is automated by a computer that prints them out.

Could the movie have been better without the weird subplot about the record promoter? Sure, but even so, it's one of the all time classic eighties flicks, and one of the best attempts at spoofing the Kung Fu genre while at the same time honoring it. It's also just plain a whole lot of fun.

What do you mean you haven't seen The Wrestler yet? It may well be one of the top ten movie downloads of the last decade! Everything you've head about this movie is true. Mickey Rourke gives the performance of a lifetime, making a strong comeback, and the film itself may well be director Darren Aronofsky's masterpiece.

Rourke's performance is the heart, the soul and the body of the film. He takes some real bumps and went through training to actually learn how to wrestle. That's really him in the ring. He had a stunt double for a few shots, but for the most part, that's really him. Randy the Ram is an incredible and very human character.

Randy has lived a self destructive lifestyle, and he's paying the price for it. He's lost touch with his family, and while there's a real bond between him and the boys in the locker room, he doesn't really have anyone that's truly close to him. So the movie follows him as he attempts to make a comeback and reunite with his daughter.

The movie will rip your heart out, showing Randy as he is in a light that it as once both humane, and unforgiving. He's not given a pass for the mistakes he's made, but he's shown as a real human being, whose feelings are valid. He's made mistakes, but that doesn't make him a monster, and he's shown in a loving light, if not an always flattering one.

Again, it's all about Mickey Rourke here. The story of the Wrestler is as much his as it is Randy's. Rourke himself has made a few mistakes, and just like Randy, was on the comeback trail. So the result is that he doesn't just play this role, he lived it. Interestingly, the role was going to go to Nicholas Cage, but Cage dropped out so that Rourke could take it.

This resulted in a smaller budget which actually helps to improve the movie. Randy wrestles for smaller crowds, not packed stadiums with the WWE, so this really drives home his passion. Whether he's wrestling for a few dozen or a few thousand, he always gives every last drop of sweat and blood to the ring.

The story is an old one, the characters are stock, but it never feels cliche or predictable. The movie is invested with such real humanity that it really feels like a unique, one of a kind tale of loss and redemption. Even if you weren't so big on Pi and Requiem for a Dream, this may be Darren Aronofsky's masterpiece, and it certainly shows a deeper level of humanity than his previous efforts.

The movie manages to warm your heart and break it at the same time. It's something like Rocky meets Raging Bull in the world of sports movies, and the ending carries a double meaning. We won't spoil it for you, but it's worth a moment of reflection after the acoustic Bruce Springsteen song plays out over the end credits.

When a girl Fresh has a crush on, as well as a childhood friend, are murdered in a random shooting by one of the drug dealers he works for, Fresh hatches a plan to take revenge on all of the pushers and scumbags he deals with on a daily basis, freeing himself and his family from the clutches of the drug dealers.

His plan is to basically take down all of the scumbags who have been controlling his life and free himself and his family from the clutches of drug dealers. The brilliant part of this plan is that, because he's just a child, they never suspect a thing. He plays chess with them in real life, and it has to be seen whether or not he'll come out on top.

The movie is, at times, brutally and shockingly violent. This is necessary to drive home the reality of Fresh's situation. He's not in a good place in life, his bosses menace him and threaten him with death at every turn, and he walks a tightrope in order to keep himself alive while at the same time taking down the people who torment him and his friends and family.

It's a rare film that works this well with such touchy subject material. The film takes a child of ten years old and puts him into a Fistful of Dollars/Yojimbo style plot, scheming and plotting his way to victory over deadly, menacing criminals. It's incredible how delicate an operation this is, to make the movie exciting and suspenseful without selling short the reality and truth of the subject matter of real life street violence.

Wall-E has gone up on the charts, being nominated for an Oscars award. Winning Best Picture would be a huge accomplishment! The Oscars has never presented Best Picture Award to an animated movie. Representing friendship and love, Wall-E shows just how far he is willing to go to achieve what he is looking for. Being able to feel the intensity and desire this little inanimate robot feels must mean the movie has been put together in an orderly fashion.

A small robot named "Wall-e" embarks on a journey through space which could end up changing the ultimate decision and fate of mankind. The reason he goes on this foreign journey is because of the attraction he feels toward another robot. He met a female robot named "Eve" and fell head over hills for her immediately. When she leaves for the future, he quickly follows behind.

Wall-E's purpose is to clean up the waste that covers the earth. He picks up, piles up, and compresses trash. While at the job site, he encounters something very strange. Something that has never happened before. Me meets Eve, which came from a rocket ship that landed in the junkyard spontaneously. Wall-E feels attraction towards Eve, which is why he takes the long journey back to the future with her. Eve does not know the small robot came along.

When he arrives in outer space, he does not have anything on his mind aside from Eve. He has no idea where he is, or what is going on their. Things start to uncover about Wall-E realizes that humanity is in harm due to lack of proportion with corresponding things. I'm not going to explain the entire movie here. Briefly, I will run through a couple of the cast members in this marvelous movie. Ben Burtt is the voice of Wall-E and MO. As an american sound designer, ben has been involved in many world hit movies including Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E. T. The Extra-Terrestrial, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Costar, Ellissa Knight, is the voice of Eve. Ellissa plays in other animated films, as well. She plays Tia in the animated movie Cars, a woman in the restaurant in Rataouille, and Lil in Toy Story 3. There's something to be said for action flicks, especially when they're as well crafted as The Road Warrior. This film was what really got Mel Gibson started on a global level. Mad Max saw him explode in the US, but since the film hadn't been released in the US yet, or throughout much of the rest of the world, it was The Road Warrior that made him a household name. It's definitely one of the must download movies of all time.

There really aren't many movies out there that work so perfectly on so many levels. In the pantheon of action films, it's comparable to Robocop, and not much else. It's very strong, full of drama, action and, at times, humor and even tragedy.

You know all about the movie, but it's worth a recap: The film takes place in a post apocalyptic Australian Outback where gas and water are both scarce. Mel Gibson plays Mad Max Rockatansky. He was a cop before the world fell apart, and now simply drifts from here to there, hoping to collect enough gas, food and water to stay alive from day to day.

Throughout his trials in the previous film, Max became just as much of a ruthless beast as the criminals he'd been chasing. Here, he's offered a chance at redemption, at becoming a part of society, or what is left of it, once more.

The movie is, really, one big chase scene. It stops here and there just long enough for the viewer to catch his or her breath. A lesser movie might have grown boring with this structure, having sacrificed story and character for chase scenes. However, The Road Warrior uses action to tell the story, to develop character. This is how the old westerns did it, and it's too bad that this structure isn't really used anymore.

The movie really comes down to the nature of heroism and righteousness. George Miller, the film's director, went into the Joseph Campbell mythology to develop the story for the film, and it paid off. The movie feels timeless, an instant classic. It will inspire you, and there's a reason that many Australians consider it to be "their Star Wars".

It will likely go down as one of the great westerns and western influenced films. It should stand alongside Stagecoach in that regard, in that it really is just great action and physical heroism from beginning to end.

The movie is loud, fast and aggressive, full of insane characters and crazy stunts (several stuntmen almost died, in fact). It may well be one of the greatest films ever made for storytelling and craftsmanship, and if not, it's certainly one of the all time great action films, and certainly worth a watch whether or not you're usually an action fan. For the last ten years, there's been a defining trend in fictional television: Realism. The show follows two primary plot threads: One following the mother's journey in building her criminal empire, and one following her family issues and the local gossip. Watching how the two stories affect one another is always worth a laugh.

Die Hard movies pretty much set the bar for action movies in the nineties. They are over the top, based almost entirely on the action, and aren't meant to be taken too seriously. But with the advent of the newest movie, it is easy to see that their time has passed. John McClain is probably ready to be retired.

The first of the movies has John going against a charmingly evil Alan Rickman in a building in downtown LA. He tries to get help the whole time, and it is easy to see that he is just a man who doesn't really want to be where he is and is trying to get someone else to come over and help him out the whole time. Eventually he just has to do it himself, but he tries to get help. And that is important to his character.

The second movie gets more outlandish. It takes place in an airport and once again our hero is thrown into something just because he happened to be in the right place at the right time. The premise works, and he is able to save the day, but there are a few more elements of the completely far-fetched that start to pop up. Still, the movie isn't outside the realm of possibility by too much.

The third movie encompasses an entire city. This time John gets roped in by the choice of the bad guys instead of just happening to be around for it. And even though the action gets a little more out of control in this movie, it is still in the realm of believable for an action movie. It also allows Samuel Jackson to show up and constantly complain about having to deal with John.

But the forth movie ends up having an entire nation at siege. And it doesn't make a lot of sense how that happens. What makes less sense is that this cop from New York suddenly seems to have super powers. Yes, he seemed nearly indestructible in the first three movies, but now he is able to jump out of a moving car that he has just turned into a rocket to destroy a helicopter and get up and walk away.

These movies work better on the smaller scale. They don't need to be the big adventures like the super hero movies. They are meant to be about a lone guy who is tough, but not powerful. He has to fight against a bigger group that is up to no good. These aren't movies about a vigilante, these are movies about someone who just has a job to do and is trying to get it done without getting killed in the process.

Ultimately it is just a difference in the styles of the time. A couple of decades ago it was okay to show an average guy in an unusually situation. Now, with the advent of super-hero movies and an ability to do more with special effects, every action movie is made with an eye to massive explosions and not to making a good underdog story.

Die Hard movies are never going to go away. People will still want to watch them for many years to come. There just comes a time when a new one can't do justice to the franchise anymore. John McClain needs to retire and Bruce Willis can do other outlandish action movies in its place, and that way everyone will be happy.

The film is part of an unofficial trilogy of sorts with The Searchers and Paris, Texas. Both Scorsese's film and Wim Wenders' Paris, Texas are loose remakes of John Ford's The Searchers, and both of the main characters of the latter films, both named Travis, are loosely cast as John Wayne types. The whole trilogy works as an example of just how many different ways there are to tell a single story.

The Searchers is an adventure film rotating around the themes of racism and lonesomeness. Paris, Texas takes a similar story and tells it in a sweet way, focusing on issues of lonesomeness and family, and Scorsese focuses on lonesomeness and the use of violence as a means of personal validation. In all three, the heroes serve as escorts, attempting to rescue people and put them where they need to be, reuniting them with their families, but in all three, the heroes must leave once more in the end, forever alone.

In each film, a real statement on loneliness is made. This is what helps the heroes of these films to be so easy to relate to, even as they do things that most of us would never be proud of having done. Even Travis Bickle, who commits so many acts of grisly violence, is such a human and endearing character in spite of his mental illness, because we know what it is to be that desperate for validation.

Everyone, sooner or later, feels that intense, terrible loneliness. That feeling that, even though you're surrounded by other people, you're trapped in a little bubble and incapable of breaking out and truly connecting with anyone. This is where Travis is stuck in his life, and we know that that can drive a person crazy.

Few people are willing to talk about the darkest aspect of the film, because it involves looking at your own darker instincts: We root for Travis Bickle in the end. We shouldn't, but we do, because we wish he could be the hero, we wish the film was a western so that his simplistic moral compass would be correct. The tragedy is that it's not a western.

The film serves as a great companion piece to The Searchers and Paris, Texas, but it also goes hand in hand with Stallone's First Blood, which was similarly about an outsider, a Vietnam veteran, who turns to violence as a way to find personal validation.

Tetsuo Iron Man was the debut feature from the unpredictable Japanese director Shinya Tsukamoto. It's a foreign film, but it's not THAT kind of foreign film. As in, don't think you're going to be sitting there reading subtitles. There's really very little dialog in the film, and what's there isn't usually important. It plays something like a silent film, so definitely put it in your queue the next time you log into your movie download service, whether or not you're usually a fan of Japanese cinema.

The movie focuses on a Japanese salary man who suddenly starts sprouting pieces of scrap metal from his body one day. It's very much in the same category as Japanese surrealist authors like Kobo Abe, where weird things just suddenly start happening for no real reason in particular. It kind of drives home the point that... Life is weird and unpredictable, and there's really no inherent meaning to it all so... Just enjoy the long strange trip for what it is.

The concept behind the movie was to make something like a monster film with a human sized badguy. The end result is sort of the Japanese answer to both David Cronenberg, and David Lynch's Eraserhead. It's definitely a strange journey full of unforgettable images, for better or for worse. The movie might be right up your alley, or it may leaving you simply scratching your head, but it's not an experience you'll forget any time soon.

The movie really helped to define Japanese cyberpunk. There had been earlier efforts in the genre such as Burst City, but this one was the one that really defined the genre as being about industrialism and the Frankenstein-esque relations between man and machine. Where American cyberpunk tends to focus on the computer age, Japanese cyberpunk is more about antiquated machinery and post WWII fear.

The movie is incredibly fast paced, and it's even a little confusing, but that's sort of the point. The movie also has a great look to it, with stark, high contrast black and white really driving home the nightmarish atmosphere of the film's setting. It really results in a strange look and a strange feel. The movie feels much more like a bad dream than it does like events happening in real life.

The film draws a lot of influence from two sources: Eraserhead, and David Cronenberg's Videodrome. Both of these films greatly contributed to its look, with Shinya Tsukamoto being a particularly big fan of Cronenberg's entire library of work. A warning, though, if those movies made you squeamish, this one will make you twice as squeamish. As surreal as the imagery is, it still might gross you out just a bit.

Tsukamoto has since created some of the greatest films to come out of Japan in the last few decades. In particular, Tokyo Fist is a real classic, and one of the greatest films ever made on the subject of the male ego and what can happen when a conflict is allowed to snowball with neither side backing down. It's really a great, deep look at what it means to be a man.

Tsukamoto has also developed into an interesting actor, mainly taking small parts in films by Takashi Miike, who has a similarly strange approach to filmmaking. Tsukamoto's career is definitely one to keep tabs on, as it's clear that, two decades after his debut, he's just getting started and still has plenty more surprises up his sleeves.
